Leave no stone left unturned

I have a summer packed full of projects I cannot wait to share! So many clients that I have had the privilege of serving and I believe in each and every one of them! As fall is approaching, I will share as I can, starting with this project from May 2021.

I knew the purpose in my career was transitioning, I saw the fork in the road ahead of me. One path would bring freedom but also uncertainty, the other path was stable but as a creative, I felt locked into a box. And then all of a sudden without me pursuing or even looking for a third path, one had presented itself. It was an opportunity working for an organization that I would consider way beyond my wildest dreams, working alongside 700 other designers. I was encouraged to apply just to see what happens with this opportunity. I do not leave stones left unturned so I applied knowing nothing would come of it. 45 minutes later to my surprise, I received the invitation to interview.

The interview went great and I was presented a design challenge to show my capabilities as a designer. The challenge was to complete a mock design for a special event called “Battle of the Bands” and included;

  • a logo design

  • event poster

  • responsive web landing page for desktop and mobile

  • marketing email

Am I up for the challenge? Absolutely, yes! This was the type of creative project I had been craving for over a year.

The inspiration behind my design came from a book I had found at a local boutique that I had visited in the past. The book showcases the history of Hatch Show Print shop with letterpress (drool). I found some typefaces and textures to emulate the vintage letterpress style and designed the Battle of the Bands challenge around it.
